Signs of subclinical acidosis may include: Decreased feed intake or complete inappetence in severe cases, mild to moderate colic signs of unexplained origin, poor feed efficiency and subsequent weight loss, loss of performance, development of stereotypes such as wood chewing, weaving, and stall walking. A diagnosis of subclinical acidosis is often overlooked initially when one or more of the aforementioned signs is noticed. EquiShure, a time-released hindgut buffer, may be beneficial in counteracting the effects of this syndrome.

A lifesaver!

by

A lifesaver! My horse suffered from hind-gut acidosis for months before we figured it out. I had tried so many things to make him more comfortable, I had lost count. I did not expect anything to help, but decided to give one more supplement a try. Fed him one night and the next day I had a completely different horse -relaxed, lazy, happy to be ridden. He has been happily working for years on it. If I experiment and lower the dose the symptoms reappear. I can count on the fingers of one hand those things that I have treated my horses with over the years that truly made a noticeable difference in how my horse felt or moved--this is one of those.
